2. AMI (Amazon Machine Image)

Used for selling virtual machine-based software.

a. Hourly Pricing

  • Customers pay hourly for instance usage.

  • Vendor sets price per EC2 instance type and region.

b. Annual Pricing (with hourly savings)

  • Prepaid annual pricing that often offers a discount over hourly rates.

  • Still uses EC2 instances underneath.

c. Free Trial

  • Offer specific AMI-based instances free for a limited time (e.g., 1, 7, or 14 days).

d. BYOL

  • Customers use software they've already licensed directly from the vendor.

3. Container (Amazon ECS, EKS, Fargate)

Pricing models for container-based products (often delivered as Helm charts or Amazon ECR images):

a. Usage-Based Pricing

  • Based on usage metrics (e.g., per CPU hour, requests, nodes, etc.)

  • Integrated with AWS Marketplace Metering Service.

b. Contract Pricing

  • Set pricing for a subscription period (monthly or annual).

  • Can include tiers, entitlements, and feature-based pricing.

c. Free Trial

  • Limited-time, no-cost access.

d. BYOL

  • Customers bring existing licenses and use the container product without Marketplace billing.

4. Professional Services

These are consulting and implementation services sold via AWS Marketplace.

a. Flat Fee

  • One-time fixed cost for a defined scope of service.

b. Hourly Rate

  • Charges based on hourly engagement.

c. Tiered Packages

  • Bronze, Silver, Gold service levels with increasing cost and service scope.

⚠️ Professional Services listings are non-metered and do not use AWS Marketplace’s metering/billing infrastructure. Payment is handled via standard invoicing and AWS billing.
